Christmas 2022 Ep. 3 : “Wonders of His Love”
Wonders of His Love.
Last night, as we sang carols, the line “Wonders of His love” really jumped out at me. The story of Christmas truly is wondrous! The fact that Perfect Deity took upon Himself raw humanity. Fallen flesh. Broken, weak, and flawed mortality. The fact that Perfection was robed in corruption. The Creator was clothed in creation…the great humility on display!
WONDERS OF HIS LOVE!
“He Who knew no sin was made to be sin for us…”
Not only that, because even being born into the human race as royalty or ruler would’ve been far below him. Instead of pomp and prestige, he chose the basest of backdrops, the humblest of scenarios. A small-town teenage mother. An unmarried, small-town, teenage mother. A fearful earthly father. A barn. A feed trough. Love ITSELF wrapped in strips of cloth.
WONDERS OF HIS LOVE!
That stable became a menial masterpiece, for it housed the King. Despite the lowliness of the scene to the naked eye, He was there lauded by both the celestial and the terrestrial. Celebrated by the outcasts in the shepherds and by the regal in the wisemen. The meager scene did not stop LOVE from drawing worshippers. The shepherds were still enough to hear the angels sing and the magi were seeking a Savior.
WONDERS OF HIS LOVE!
And, just as the carol proclaims, “where meek souls will receive Him still, our dear Christ enters in.”
